’Game of Thrones’ og ’Veep’ blev de store vindere, da den prestigefulde Emmy-uddeling natten til mandag dansk tid hyldede det bedste inden for amerikansk tv.
HBO’s fantasy-flagskib brød rekorden for flest statuetter på et enkelt år med 12 triumfer, heriblandt bedste dramaserie og bedste mandlige birolle i en dramaserie (Peter Dinklage), mens ’Veep’ blandt andet hjemtog priser for bedste komedieserie og bedste skuespillerinde i en komedieserie (Julia Louis-Dreyfus).
Da ’Bessie’ samtidig vandt for bedste tv-film og ’Olive Kitteridge’ sejrede i miniserie-kategorien, må HBO-dominansen betegnes som historisk tung.
Jon Hamm vandt omsider en Emmy-statuette for sin præstation som Don Draper i ’Mad Men’, der i år satte punktum efter syv sæsoner, og Viola Davis (’How to Get Away with Murder’) vandt prisen for bedste kvindelige skuespillerinde i en dramaserie som den første afroamerikanske kvinde nogensinde.
Jeffrey Tambor og Uzo Aduba blev ligeledes hyldet for deres mindeværdige præstationer i henholdsvis ’Transparent’ og ’Orange Is the New Black’.
