Den 70. udgave af filmfestivalen i Cannes nærmer sig med hastige skridt og på et pressemøde for få minutter siden blev programmet for de udvalgte film offentliggjort.
I hovedkonkurrencen dyster 18 film om Guldpalmen, heriblandt ‘The Beguiled’ af Sofia Coppola, ‘Happy End’ af Michael Haneke ‘The Killing of a Sacreed Deer’ af Yorgos Lanthimos og ‘The Meyerowitz’ Stories af Noah Baumbach.
Kristen Stewart debuterer som kortfilmsinstruktør med ‘Come Swim’, mens Alejandro G. Inarritus for første gang præsenterer sit virtual reality-projekt ‘Carne y Arena’. På dokumentarfronten er Al Gore aktuel med ‘An Inconvenient Sequel’, der ligesom forgængeren, forsøger at sætte fokus på klimaforandringernes konsekvenser.
Desværre blev ingen af de nordiske bud udtaget. Både Joachim Triers ‘Thelma’ og Ruben Östlunds ‘The Square’ måtte se sig forbigået.
To afsnit af David Lynchs længeventede ‘Twin Peaks’-opfølger og Jane Campions ‘Top of the Lake: China Girl’ vil også blive vist, som en del af festivalens 70 års jubilæumsfejring.
Mathieu Amalrics ‘Barbara’ starter ballet, når den årlige Cannes-festival løber fra den 17. til den 28. maj.
