Trods en polariserende sidste sæson vandt ‘Game of Thrones’ den store pris for bedste dramaserie, da årets Emmy-priser blev uddelt i Los Angeles natten til mandag dansk tid, hvor også fanfavoritten Peter Dinklage for fjerde gang vandt en birolle for sin præstation som Tyrion Lannister.
På komediefronten blev den store sejrherre – mere overraskende – Phoebe Waller-Bridges sublime ‘Fleabag’, der vandt fire priser, heriblandt hovedprisen for bedste komedieserie og prisen for bedste hovedrolle til Waller-Bridge selv. Favoritten var Veep’, der har vundet et utal af gange før og var med i puljen for sin allersidste sæson, men hypen om Amazon-serien ‘Fleabag’ er blot taget til, og sejren var helt fortjent.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge kunne også fejre, at Jodie Comer vandt prisen for bedste kvindelige hovedrolle i en dramaserie for ‘Killing Eve’ – en serie, Waller-Bridge såmænd også står bag.
‘Chernobyl’ vandt for bedste miniserie i et skarpt felt foran blandt andre ‘Sharp Objects’ og ‘When They See Us’, mens en favorit her på siden, ‘Succession’, vandt for bedste manus på finaleafsnittet i sæson 1.
Billy Porter blev den første sorte homoseksuelle mand til at vinde prisen for bedste mandlige hovedrolle i en dramaserie. Og så nuppede unge Julia Garner prisen for bedste birolle i en dramaserie foran et helt felt af ‘Game of Thrones’-skuespillere.
