Den 69. udgave af seriernes verdensmesterskab løb af stablen i nat dansk tid, og det blev en uddeling uden de helt store overraskelser, men med de rigtige vindere – i hvert fald hvis man spørger vores redaktør.
Havde man håbet på den store fejring af den ‘Stranger Things’, og at Millie Bobby Brown skulle blive den yngste Emmy-vinder nogensinde, så kunne man godt tro om. Det var rutinen, der sejrede, især i skuespillerkategorierne, hvor erfarne Ann Dowd for eksempel vandt over netop Bobby Brown for sin rolle som lærerinden fra helvede i ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’.
‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ tog generelt det meste af det, den kunne få med en pris til Elisabeth Moss for bedste skuespillerinde efter fire nomineringer uden bonus i ‘Mad Men’-dagene, og Reed Morano løb med instruktørprisen for seriens første episode ‘Ofred’.
‘Veep’ syntes atter urørlig i komedieseriegenren, og Julia Louis-Dreyfus tangerede rekorder for bedste kvindelige skuespillerinde i en komedieserie (hun har vundet seks gange i træk for serien), mens Donald Glover og ‘Atlanta’ blev velfortjent præmieret i hovedrollekategorien og for bedste instruktion af en komedieserie.
Ellers var ‘Big Little Lies’ ikke til at komme uden om i miniseriekategorien, hvor Jean-Marc Vallee cementerede sin status som en actor’s director med statuetter til Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern og Alexander Skarsgård.
