Ved gårsdagens udgave af Grammy Awards brød Beyoncé en årelang forbandelse, da hun gik hjem med prisen Årets album for ‘Cowboy Carter’.
Inden da havde Beyoncé slået rekord som kunstneren med flest Grammy-nomineringer og -statuetter i historien, men uden nogensinde at have vundet albumhovedprisen. Et faktum, som hendes ægtemand Jay-Z kritiserede i en takketale ved sidste års Grammy-show.
Beyoncé gik i år hjem med i alt tre statuetter, da hun også vandt i kategorierne Bedste countryalbum og Bedste country-performance af en duo/gruppe for den Miley Cyrus-gæstede sang ‘II Most Wanted’.
En anden stor sejrherre på aftenen var Kendrick Lamar, som vandt hele fem priser. Kæmpehittet ‘Not Like Us’ blev kåret til både Årets sang, Årets indspilning, Bedste musikvideo, Bedste rapsang og Bedste rapperformance.
Derudover blev Chappell Roan kåret til Bedste nye artist, mens Sabrina Carpenter vandt priserne Bedste popvokalalbum for ‘Short N’ Sweet’ og Bedste pop-soloperformance for ‘Espresso’. Charli XCX gik ligeledes hjem med to priser: Bedste dancepop-indspilning for ‘Von Dutch’ og Bedste dance/elektroniske album for fænomenet ‘Brat’.
Popkollegaerne Billie Eilish og Taylor Swift måtte derimod gå tomhændede fra prisfesten.
