Natten til mandag løb MTV’s 2026-udgave af Video Music Awards af stablen.
Her vandt Taylor Swift sin 31. VMA-pris i kategorien Video of the Year for musikvideoen til nummeret ‘The Fate of Ophelia’. Hun overhaler dermed Beyoncés 30 priser og bliver den mest VMA-vindende artist nogensinde.
Popstjernen blev desuden den første til at vinde den nye ærespris Artist Director Honors, som skal ære de kunstnere, »hvis arbejde bag kamera har udvidet mulighederne for musikvideoer og løftet den visuelle historiefortællings kunst«.
I spidsen af årets felt stod Madonna med hele 13 nomineringer – en rekord, hun nu deler med Lady Gaga – efterfulgt af Sabrina Carpenter med ni, Ariana Grande med otte, Bruno Mars med seks samt Zara Larsson og PinkPantheress med fem hver.
Aftenens mest vindende artist blev Madonna, der med sit comeback-album ‘Confessions II’ hev hele syv priser med hjem, heriblandt for Artist of the Year og Best Album.
Madonna åbnede ballet med aftenens første optræden, hvor hun havde både Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX, Sombr og skuespillerne Seth Rogen og Julia Garner med på scenen.
Awardshowet bød desuden på optrædener fra blandt andre Yung Lean, Lisa, Gunna og en Dolly Parton-hyldest fra Kacey Musgraves.
