Tidligere i december har vi publiceret Soundvenues egne lister over både de bedste danske og internationale album fra 2021, men er man ekstra nysgerrig (eller bare glad for rangeringer), har vi her samlet et overblik over årets bedste album ifølge en række af de mest toneangivende musikmedier i udlandet.
Skal man sige noget om årslisterne, er det, at de er ekstraordinært forskellige. Her er ikke storværker fra kunstnere som Kendrick Lamar eller Beyoncé, der bare ligger i top-5 samtlige steder.
Her er dog album, som går igen. Jazmine Sullivans ‘Heaux Tales’, Tyler, The Creators ‘Call Me If You Get Lost’ og Japanese Breakfasts ‘Jubilee’ er nogle af de plader, som over en bred kam ligger meget lunt i svinget.
Men selv om Jazmine Sullivan ligger nummer et hos både Pitchfork og NPR, så er der andre top-20-lister, hvor hun slet ikke figurerer.
Måske 2022 kommer til at byde på det der uomgængelige mesterværk, som vi alle er enige om skal skrives ind i musikkens hellige historiebøger. Sådan et har vi savnet i år.
