Den 62. årlige Grammy Awards-uddeling løb i nat af stablen i Los Angeles. Hvis dommen ikke allerede for længst var faldet, må den siges at være det nu: 2019 var Billie Eilishs år.
Den blot 18-årige sangerinde gjorde rent bord i seks kategorier – heriblandt fire af de allerypperste af slagsen. Eilish vandt således titlen som Best New Artist, hendes debutalbum ’When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ blev Album of the Year, mens hendes superhit ’Bad Guy’ både blev Record of the Year og Song of the Year.
Foruden de fire topkategorier vandt Eilishs debutplade også Best Pop Vocal Album og Best Engineered Album. Eilishs bror og trofaste producer, Finneas O’Connell, vandt tilmed en pris som Producer of the Year.
Favoritten i nomineringsfeltet var dog oprindeligt Lizzo, der havde sikret sig hele otte nomineringer. Lizzo gik da heller ikke helt tomhændet fra prisuddelingen, men sikrede sig tre styks for henholdsvis Best Solo Pop Performance (’Truth Hurts’), Best Traditional R&B Performance (’Jerome’) og Best Urban Contemporary Album (’Cuz I Love You’).
Blandt aftenens øvrige vindere finder vi blandt andre navne som Anderson .Paak, Tyler, the Creator, Tool, Vampire Weekend, Lil Nas X samt to posthume sejre til Nipsey Hussle.
